ABOUT ANCHORAGE

Anchorage is the premier national fest of the Department of Ship Technology and the Society of Naval Architecture Students (SNAS), Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).

Since 1989, Anchorage has been a landmark event in India's maritime engineering calendar. Returning October 10–12, 2026, after a significant hiatus, this high-impact fiesta is completely reimagined to bridge our 50-year heritage with the future of maritime innovation.

Under the theme "Reimagining the Possibilities," Anchorage 2026 challenges the brightest minds to look beyond traditional boundaries. This three-day event in Cochin offers sponsors a gateway to 10,000+ footfalls and a nationwide digital outreach exceeding 100,000+ views.

DEPT OF SHIP TECHNOLOGY
PIONEERS IN NAVAL ARCHITECTURE

The Department of Ship Technology, established in 1974, is a pioneer in Naval Architecture education in India. It aims to develop skilled professionals to meet the needs of the shipbuilding industry, classification societies, R&D organizations, and the Indian Navy.

The department maintains strong collaborations with IITs, foreign universities, shipyards, and industries, enhancing student training and research exposure. Its long-standing partnership with Rostock University, Germany dates back to 1978.

Recognized as a Centre of Excellence by the Indian Navy, the department hosts around 30 Navy cadets in its B.Tech programme. The course is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) under the Tier-I system.

With experienced faculty, over 300 research publications, and programmes including M.Tech (CASAD) and PhD, the department is actively involved in projects with organisations like Cochin Shipyard Ltd., ClassNK, NSTL, and NPOL.

1974 — FOUNDATION
Department of Ship Technology Established

The Department of Ship Technology, CUSAT, was established as a pioneer in Naval Architecture education in India — building skilled professionals for shipyards, classification societies, R&D organisations, and the Indian Navy.

1989 — GENESIS
Anchorage Is Born

The Society of Naval Architecture Students (SNAS) launched Anchorage — bringing together engineering talent under one roof for the first time. A tradition that would span decades and become one of the oldest festivals of its kind in India.

2000s — EXPANSION
State-Level Recognition

Anchorage grew beyond campus, attracting participants from premier institutions across Kerala and India. It cemented its identity as a techno-cultural and management powerhouse.

2015 — LANDMARK EDITION
Largest Pro Show in Cochin

A landmark edition held on the 9th, 10th and 11th of January 2015. Anchorage hosted the largest Pro Show Cochin had ever seen — a spectacle of music, light and maritime spirit that set an entirely new standard.

2020–2022 — RESILIENCE
Navigating the Storm

The global pandemic tested every institution. Anchorage adapted — embracing hybrid formats, digital workshops and online competitions while keeping the spirit of innovation alive.

The Resurrection
